The Invitation
Ten founders. One conviction: the people whose lives AI affects decide how it is built, governed, and used. Genesis was built for that seat. This is the invitation to co-author the people's AI.
This is who the people's AI is for. Every face. Every family. Every community at the table.
The Choice
Someone will build the One App — the unified interface through which 8 billion people meet information, one another, and the decisions of a life. The only question is who decides how it is built, governed, and used.
Future A
Google, Apple, or Microsoft builds the One App. Beautifully intelligent. Closed inside one company. And every conversation analyzed. Every preference monetized. Every cognitive weakness exploited.
The browser becomes an extraction engine. Email becomes a profiling tool. Messaging becomes a persuasion channel. AI becomes the most sophisticated advertising platform ever created.
This future is the default. It requires no action. It simply happens if no one builds the alternative.
Future B
The ten founders co-author the people's AI with the communities it serves. Beautifully intelligent. Held as a public good. And your data is yours. Truth is verifiable. Manipulation is visible.
Genesis is built so a browser can show what is true, and mail can stay private. A dialogue can stay a dialogue. AI can be the strongest tool a person has been offered for their own agency.
8 billion people keep the power to decide how that information tool is built, governed, and used. Freedom.
The difference between these two futures is who holds the decisions. Genesis stands, and the count is measured. The question is whether the ten founders who believe people should shape AI have the courage to co-author it.
The Roadmap
What stands today is measured. What comes next is co-authored with the communities who decide how, whether, and to what ends it is used.
A full brain of 36 million facts and 105 million connections. 7.3 million searchable passages. 3.1 million manuscript records. Built so a person can see what is true, what is missing, and what is trying to move them.
The people's AI is co-authored with the communities it serves. They set the goals, the terms of the data, and the right to refuse. A person's identity stays theirs, and the decision stays theirs.
A public good the communities can inspect, govern, and refuse. Genesis is built so the person keeps the decisions, and what humanity has saved stays a commons.
The Beginning
A full brain. A library. 170 AI specialists in the agency. It does not look like a revolution.
Neither did a phone with no keyboard.
Neither did a web browser released by a company most people had never heard of.
Revolutions don't announce themselves. They begin with a single act of courage from people who believe something better is possible.
The Convergence
Ten founders already named the future: people holding AI, access and control in their hands. Genesis was built to sit at that table.
The Ten Bring
Genesis Brings
You hold what this work needs: the trust of communities, and the will to seat them. Genesis holds what the seat needs: a brain, a library, and an agency already measured. None of us co-authors this alone. Together, the people's AI can be written with the people it serves.
🎉 The Invitation
This is the invitation. Ten founders, and the communities you serve, deciding how AI is built, governed, and used. Genesis was built for that seat. This is how the people's AI gets written.
The Browser
The ten who asked who gets to decide. Democracy, education, culture, work, and security.
&
One invitation. The founders, the communities, and a public good none of us can finish alone.
The Intelligence
Built to show what is true, and to make manipulation visible. Built to serve people. The record stays something a community can inspect.
The communities who hold the seat.
The intelligence built to serve them.
One invitation to co-author the people's AI.
The Specifics
Clarity matters. Here is what already stands, what Genesis is built to do, and what we are inviting you to co-author.
01
The Call
Your open call, Communities Leading on AI, asks who gets to decide how AI is built, governed, and used. Genesis was built for that question: a public good that puts access and control in the hands of people, co-authored with the communities.
02
Measured
Measured 5 Oct 2026, and countable: 36 million facts and 105 million connections in the full brain. 7.3 million searchable passages. 3.1 million manuscript records. 170 AI specialists in the agency. 100 million lines of code, pages, data and documents. over 93,000 commits. 336 days (3 Nov 2025 to 5 Oct 2026). This is what stands. The rest is what we co-author.
03
Ongoing
An invitation to co-author the people's AI with the communities it serves. They define the goals, the data terms, and the right to say no. Genesis is built so the record can be inspected and the decision stays with people. Civilization scale. Every base you named. The seat stays theirs.
The Experience
Technology matters only when it changes lives. Here is what Genesis is built to mean for a person meeting the world's information.
Before Genesis
You read an article claiming a new study proves something. You don't know if the study is real, if the article accurately represents it, or if the headline is designed to manipulate your emotions. You share it anyway because it confirms what you already believe.
With Genesis
Genesis is built to show the gap: a study may be real while the article misrepresents the conclusion, and a headline may be built to move you. You see the pressure before you share.
Before Genesis
A countdown. A crowd that may not exist. A sale that never ends. You feel the urgency. You buy. Later you discover the scarcity was manufactured.
With Genesis
Genesis is built to show the pattern: the scarcity is manufactured, the countdown is a design, and the sale does not end. You decide with the trick made visible.
Before Genesis
You search your symptoms. The first screen is SEO-optimized content farms. Sponsored results from supplement companies. Fear-inducing worst-case articles designed for clicks. You close the tab more anxious than when you opened it.
With Genesis
Genesis is built to tie an answer to the source it came from, to mark what is sponsored, and to set the evidence beside the claim. You decide. The system does not decide for you.
The aim is to make manipulation visible. When the pressure is visible, people make better decisions. They always have. The tool they were missing is one that shows the pressure and leaves the decision in their hands.
Shared DNA
Lay the words side by side: what you have said about who decides, and what Day 7 is built under.
The Founders' Words
Humanity AI: "Supporting the creation of public goods that put AI access and control in the hands of people."
John Palfrey, MacArthur: "The promise of AI will be realized when communities have a seat at the table."
Katy Knight, Siegel: "AI's future isn't a technical problem to be solved by engineers, it's a democratic challenge that requires the voices and agency of the people whose lives it affects."
Mozilla: "The internet is a global public resource that must remain open and accessible."
Day 7 Principles
"Truth is the only thing that matters. All evidence must be examined."
"Sovereignty — independence from external control. Your data is yours."
"People decide — not AI. Present all evidence, people evaluate."
"Censorship causes more harm. Suppressing inquiry destroys credibility."
It's like Steve Jobs put everything into the first iPhone. We're one of those moments. But even bigger. Because we're not just converging devices. We're converging TRUTH.Carter Hill, Founder & CEO — Day 7 Public Benefit Corporation
The Window
Future A does not wait on a vote. The window people already open is where a company's model wants to live. Chrome, Edge, Safari: three doors, one owner each, and the person is not asked.
Every week that passes, the corporate convergence becomes more entrenched. Every week that passes, switching costs increase. Every week that passes, the opportunity narrows.
Chrome
The window
Where a company's model meets the person, on the company's terms
Edge
The window
Where a company's model meets the person, on the company's terms
Lock-in
The close
Leaving becomes a wall the longer a person stays
Mozilla was born because one company tried to own the browser. That fight has returned. They want intelligence itself. This time the ten founders are in the room, and the people are invited in.
How We Will Know
What success means can be seen. The record can be checked. Here is how we will know the people's AI is being co-authored.
Standing
The brain
36 million facts and 105 million connections in the full brain. 7.3 million searchable passages. A record that can be counted. The count is the floor. The invitation is what we build on it.
Held
The library
3.1 million manuscript records. 283,570 manuscripts located in 26 other libraries. 87.9 terabytes in our own cloud storage. A library in our own cloud, ready to be governed as a commons.
At work
The agency
170 AI specialists in the agency. 30,685 people with their own folder. 5,024 inventions. People kept in the decisions. A system that shows its work.
Together
The co-authorship
Communities defining the goals, the terms, and the right to say no. Genesis built to be governed with them. The people's AI, co-authored, at the scale of 8 billion people.
Every figure here that is a count was measured. Every one can be checked.
This is the record. The invitation sits on top of it.
The Stakes
This choice is about what kind of future 8 billion people inhabit. The founding number still stands: 24,000 children under five die every day. The stakes could not be higher.
For the first time in human history, we can build systems that detect when someone is trying to manipulate how you think. Not after the fact. In real time. Before the manipulation works. Before the dark pattern triggers the impulse buy. Before the emotionally charged headline does its work. Genesis is built to show what is trying to influence how a person thinks, and to leave the decision with them. That distinction is everything.
Wikipedia proved that collective knowledge works when the incentives are right. Genesis carries a commons beside it: 36 million facts and 105 million connections in the full brain. 3.1 million manuscript records. 283,570 manuscripts located in 26 other libraries. 87.9 terabytes in our own cloud storage. A public good, held to be governed with the communities. Mozilla was born to protect a commons.
When Mozilla released Firefox, it proved that a public-benefit organization could compete with the most powerful corporation on Earth. That precedent changed everything. If the ten founders co-author an intelligence the communities can govern, that precedent changes again, for 8 billion people.
To the ten founders of Humanity AI — Doris Duke Foundation, Ford Foundation, Lumina Foundation, Kapor Foundation, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Mellon Foundation, Mozilla Foundation, Omidyar Network, David and Lucile Packard Foundation, and Siegel Family Endowment —
I'm not a technical founder. I can't write Python. I've never configured a server. When I started this on 3 Nov 2025, I didn't know what an API was.
What I had was a vision: that the most powerful information tools on Earth should serve people, not exploit them. That truth should be verifiable. That manipulation should be visible. That every person on Earth deserves access to intelligence that helps them think clearly.
336 days later (3 Nov 2025 to 5 Oct 2026), that vision has a body: 36 million facts and 105 million connections in the full brain, and 170 AI specialists in the agency.
When I read what you have already said, I heard the work. Public goods that put AI access and control in the hands of people. Communities with a seat at the table. We have been building toward that future from the other direction.
The question I am asking is simple: what happens when the people whose lives this touches co-author the intelligence built to serve them?
Let's find out.

A small team once released code that became a browser people could trust. They came with conviction, and the conviction held.
On 3 Nov 2025 a founder who is not a programmer began this work. 336 days later (3 Nov 2025 to 5 Oct 2026), it stands. He had conviction.
Conviction, it turns out, is the most undervalued
asset in technology.
Let's see what happens when conviction meets conviction.
